OPEN A WORLD OF READING WITH THE SORA APP

💻 How to Get Started

  • Step 1: Download or Visit Sora
    • On an iPad: Install the free Sora app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
    • On a laptop: Point your browser to soraapp.com.
  • Step 2: Find Our School
    • Locate and tap The American School in Japan (please search for the full name, not ASIJ).
  • Step 3: Choose Your Account Type
    • Select either Parent or Student/Faculty.
  • Step 4: Sign In using the credentials below.

🔐 Login Information

For Students (All Grades)

  • Username: Graduation year + last name + first initial (e.g., 27jonesm@asij.ac.jp)
  • Grades K–2 Password: mustangs26
  • Grades 3 and Up Password: Students use the unique, “super secret” passwords they created themselves.

For Parents

  • Username: firstname.lastname (e.g., jane.doe)
  • Password: Your Veracross Axiom ID number (e.g., 50451)

💡 Where to find your Parent Veracross Axiom ID:

  • New Parents with Black ASIJ Parent ID cards: Check the back of your physical card.
  • Parents with Green or Purple ASIJ Parent ID cards: Go online to your Gold Card Membership, click on Family, and your ID number will be displayed there.

🛡️ Library Access & Safeguarding Information

To ensure a safe and age-appropriate reading experience, please note how our digital collections are filtered:

  • Elementary School Students: To support student safeguarding, ES students will only see collections specifically created and curated by Ms. Pretz. They can only search for, read, or listen to books that are available within the ES library catalog.
  • Parents: When you log into your parent account, you will see collections for the High School library on your main dashboard. However, you can use the search bar to find books across all school divisions.

📖 Navigating the App

  • To Browse: Tap the Explore tab (binoculars icon) to search the collections.
  • To Read/Listen: Tap Open Book or Open Audiobook to jump right into a title.
  • To Manage Loans: Go to your Sora bookshelf icon and click on OPTIONS to return a book early or renew a title.
